The Government First Grade College, Bettampady was established in 1991 by the Govt. of Karnataka to cater the needs of economically and socially backward people of Puttur taluk. Bettampady is a rural village in Puttur Taluk in D.K. dist, 14Kms away from Taluk centre, Puttur. College has 7.2 acres of land and has own building.
The college has laid down its aims and objectives, keeping in view the vision statement of Directorate of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Karnataka. The college is located in Karnataka - Kerala border area, where majority of the people belong to socially and economically backward classes.
The Government First Grade College, Bettampady is affiliated to Mangalore University and also recognized by the UGC under its 2(f) and 12(b) sections. NAAC assessed the college in 2005 and has given C++ status.
